I have worked with rural entrepreneurs of Tripura. Tripura has immense potential. Most of the products are imported. Even basic generic items are imported. Many that do not need brand backing can be manufactured here. Products like Lichi juice, rubber bands, agarbatti, etc., can be easily made and accepted by local customers. Artisans should also make utility products for quick sale and sustenance, e.g., bedsheets for weavers/tailors, hangers for bamboo artisans, etc. Focus local, sell global.

Hearing a lot lately about the ‘Marketing Didis’ initiative these days and here are my few cents on it: they can collaborate with social media vloggers to interview local artisans and production units and create behind the scenes content through creative storytelling showing the ideation to creation journey, the USP of the products and how the benefit the urban population helping build customer trust.Travel, food, home decor, textiles are some niche sectors to try

Supporting local products helps preserve our heritage, create jobs, and strengthen the economy. Citizens can choose local products, youth can promote them online, and start-ups can improve branding and market access. Together, we can make “Vocal for Local” a powerful step towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Empowering youth and startups with innovation, technology, and market access can drive sustainable growth, create employment, and showcase Tripura’s unique identity to the world.
